Rollbars and Auto-X (Solo)

Post by Shadow2 »

Hello folks of the ETR-SCCA!

I came out to my first Solo event last year at BMS. (I was the doofus in the black Mazda6.) Now I've got a new set of wheels that I'd like to bring out to an event, but I had a couple questions first:

Okay, so firstly, I'd like to run my 2004 Mazdaspeed MX-5. It's stock; no seriously, I've not done anything to it, aside from adding a stereo adapter...
So I should be able to run it in the stock-class, right?

Secondly, I don't have a roll-bar installed in the car, and I was reviewing the 2013 SCCA Rulebook:

http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/ass ... 0Rules.pdf
Section 3. -- 3.3.2
"Roll bars or roll cages are strongly recommended in all cars."

However, it does not exclusively state that they are required to run. I was Google'ing around and saw that different regions had different views on this, when strictly running Auto-X, so I wanted to get your all's answer so I know what the stance is on this topic.

Thanks,
JD

Not required, and if you are on street tires in that car it is harder than most to tip over.

Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation, I just wanted to be sure...
The only thing I lack now is a helmet (I know their are the shared event helmets, but I'd rather just have one of my own...)
