Helmet Sizing/Headroom Issue

Post by riggs »

I would appreciate some input regarding a headroom issue i am having with helmets. I am 6'5" and I cannot seem to find dimensions on most helmets to help me compare one that will fit best in a 350Z. I know this is a tough issue to overcome considering my height and the car, but if anyone has experience with a certain "lower profile" helmet that could help, please chime in!

Thank you!

Hello Riggs,

Sorry, but I can't provide dimensional information, but can offer you an opportuniity to save money on a virtually new helmet - used only one weekend, a long story. I have a RaceQuip, Pro Model, XL, White, full face, Snell 2010 helmet complete with HANS quick release hardware that retailed for $315. Looking for a reasonable offer. Give me a call if you would be interested in a test fit, and I'll bring it with me to Bristol on Saturday.

Seat back rake angle or a saws-all. Sorry. Probably not much difference in Snell rated helmets. Does your seat lower any or are you already bottomed out? I have to lower my Volvo S60 seat a little when I Ax.

Have you tried the dirt car shop on Singleton Station and Alcoa Hwy? There is a motel at the corner that seems to harbor a few tree workers and trucks for a landmark. The shop is caddy corner. Not open very late. 4 or 5 ish.

Actually, I'd be curious to see your support on that one. All 4th gen coupes (can't speak for 2nd or third gens) had the t-top holes cut out. The "roof" was either sheet steel tack welded in place, or was a piece of composite material (I can't remember, its been a long time since I looked into converting my car into a hardtop). On both the hard top and t-top cars, the structural member is the "spine" running through the center of the roof. Its actually pretty easy (if you can get the parts) to convert a t-top car into a hard top, and vise versa.

The roof is plastic on a 4th gen hardtop.
