Wilwood Rotors
Wilwood Rotors
Any one ever used a Wilwood Rotor and if so what are your thoughts on them?

Worst case, carry your dba's and if the will wood takes a poo, swap the ones you know work back on.

I think Kelly Munsey had Wilwoods on his Impala (either that or it was Terry - I know one them ran Wilwoods). If they could stop those boats time and time again, you will have no problems.

Re: Wilwood Rotors
I have Wilwoods front and rear on the Cobra. Jim does also, at least on the front. They are two-part, and the hat bolts should be safety-wired. I have the 6-pot calipers in the front and 4-pot in the rear. They're light and work great. Are you going to use Wilwood calipers too? If so, the BP-10 compound pads tend to be the best for autocross.

Re: Wilwood Rotors
I have Wilwood big brakes on my WRX front and back - including 2 piece rotors. No problems in 1 1/2 years. I'll be over Sunday, so you can check them out.
I do not like the Wilwood pads. Feel "lumpy" when hot. Probably off gasing. I'm using Carbotech AX6 pads and stopping is excellent. Mark P drove it in Atlanta, so he can give you an opinion.

Wilwood offers about a dozen different pad compounds.Apexemall wrote:I do not like the Wilwood pads.

Most retrofit kits come with BP-10 compound, but if you don't mind taking the time to swap pads before an event, the polymatrix A compound is excellent for autocross.

Re: Wilwood Rotors
Any pad other than carbotech on my car is a waste of time. I have run hawk and the stock pads and none of those have come close to stopping the shelby as good as the carbotech do.
