New guy introducing himself

Post by Brady »

Hi all. My name is Brady and I'm an FNG. I did some google-ing and found the East TN SCCA and I'm excited to be a part of it! I'm planning on attending the autocross this weekend at Pelissippi State.

I'm not a TN native - I'm on a temporary job assignment with TVA. Originally from the DC/Baltimore area. Can't wait to meet some of you this weekend! I'll be driving a charcoal 2012 Mustang GT.

PS....are there usually loaner helmets available?

Not sure what a FNG is... f'n new guy? But welcome! We do have loaner helmets available at the event. Glad to have you, be sure to find Jim (our novice chief) or any of us regulars Sunday morning and we'll get you off on the right foot.

Welcome Brady! Be sure to find Jim Simmons when you get there. He has a grey Cobra and is the guy that helps FNGs. Oh, and get there by 9am so you can walk the course, a lot.

We have loaner helmets available.

Edit--Gary beat me to it.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought your guess was correct! I had to Google it.

it's an old old term … used on a regularly in the service

I used the term one time and someone asked if I'd been in the service … that was what gave it away

Weird. I had no idea that was a military term.

not sure that it's military in and of itself … but it was a commonly used expression
