Sept 4 Nashville....

Post by EliseAutoXr »

I signed up for this Sunday in Nashville and noticed that only Trey and I have signed up, so I thought I would add a reminder...

The 411 banked oval event is the same day. I think I enjoy the Nashville events more (more turns, less gearing frustration), but with fuel costs, I'd rather keep it local.

I have never been to a 411 event... I'm most in need of seat time, trying to instill the lessons learned from the school. Are there normally lots of runs at 411?

You should be able to get plenty of runs at 411. The 411 event will be FUN and FAST in a laid-back atmosphere. You'll have the "shakes" after your runs. However, the Nashville will have more to offer as far as choosing the right line, practicing looking ahead, and all the more traditional autocross stuff. My plan is to run 411 this weekend, PCA the following weekend, ETR on the 18th, then Nashville on the 25th.

I inquired about safety equipment, etc. but got no response. The AV8SS website says (regarding open track day) that rollbars are required for convertibles only and harnesses if you don't have factory installed seats and seat belts... I was also curious regarding my boy driving, him being a minor and all...would hate to drive over and not get to participate. We'll probably sit this one out...

Daddy was a mechanic...It would have been nice if he was a doctor, but, then, we probably would have been 'sick' all the time instead of wrenchin' on these cars...

Reluctantly I'm going to back out of this deal. With 93octane gas going for 3.30+ a gallon, I just don't want to spend that much to drive there, run, and drive back and then also do the 411 event on Sunday.

Really pisses me off, too. I suppose I should find a hobby that doesn't require gas and traveling. Professional TV watcher is sounding better and better.

Sorry I think my subject made this confusing I'm referring to the normal Nashville AutoX that is on Sunday... still can't decide to do either this or the 411 event on the same day... I do think it makes sense to save the gas money and go to 411, but just not sure

Bradley, if you've never done the 411 event, do it. It is really fast.

Wow, that sounds great! I'm looking forward to this. I guess I'll be a no show at the Nashville AutoX

Thanks for all of the info...

I have also decided to do the 411 event. As much as I like Nashville's site, driving that far can be tiresome and expensive. I don't smoke, but for all that do looks like gas and cigs are now about even. Until I can run my car on cigs, I'll stick to gas.
