PORSCHE CLUB of AMERICA AUTO-X

Post by VIC »

Save Sunday, 11.09.14, on your calendar. PCA invites SCCA autocrossers to join in an autocross at Splash Country USA, Pigeon Forge. The site is a fourteen acre tarmac, allowing good speed, and an opportunity to control your car in a spacious environment. Tech becomes available at 0830, with the first car off at 1000. Cost per driver...$35. No riders permitted. Contact Janis Berry with your intention to participate, at janis_berry@att.net. See you there!!!

Vic...the only thing your event is the same day as CRSCCA Cleveland Jetport. I like to try new venues and have been wanting to try Splash country as it was rained out earlier this year.....decisions :?

Paul, as it sits....splash country is probably the better site. Course design at either event is a bit of a crap shoot I think.

Yeah Splash country is only 20 miles away much closer to me then Jetport. Have you gone to one of these? How long a course 30-40 or closer to 60 seconds? I planned on going in the spring but it was rained out.

closer to 60, but the PCA courses are "different". Not bad, usually - it's just that they aren't what you are used to seeing.

I ran a PCA event in Daytona, FL about 8 months ago and they really do things differently. We all did a "follow the leader" type run through at very slow speed before we started. The course was also very tight with U-turns and different style gate layouts. Overall it was pretty fun and they PCA guys were great to run with. You also get to beat up on some shiny expensive German cars, but a few of the drivers were very quick. Hard to beat that PDK, you can shift when everyone else is banging limiter.

The PCA course will be designed a little differently from the past layouts at Splash Country. It will be run counter clockwise. It will be quick, with no first gear sections (other than the start :) ). The course will flow well, and you should be expected to bring HP with you! Anticipated time on course is between 55-60 seconds.
