Re: What was your first car?
1976 Audi 100LS. British racing green and manual. I nicknamed it the anti-christ because it had random electrical/ignition problems. Also, the battery happened to be under the back seat. One day, a robust friend of mine was riding in the back seat. Apparently, his weight caused the seat springs/frame to touch the terminals resulting in a very panicked, smoke filled maneuver to pull over to the side of the road and investigate. Good times.

Worked all summer mowing yards to buy a 1964 Chevy Bel-Air for $50 when I was 14 years old... just drove it up and down our gravel drive way!

1976 Jeep CJ-5 (304 V8)
We had a pretty good snow on my birthday, so I got to drive it around in that. Oh, and the girl who gave me my license test (drive around the block) tried to buy it from me.

Re: What was your first car?
My first car I bought was a '68 Charger(in 1975) with a 383 in it. It was fast, but didnt handle worth a crap. I totaled it in a power slide(drifting) at about 80 mph on a curve on Westland Dr. in west Knoxville. It was about 1am and as I was in the middle of the curve a horse comes running down the middle of the road. I had a power pole on the right, an oak tree on my left and the horse in the middle. Horse went down(just knocked out but alive) and I wound up in the field dragging about 100ft of fence behind me.
Traded a useless Charger for a 66 VW beetle....

1964 Ford Falcon, 4 Door, Inline 6 200ci, Baby Blue. I was 16 at the time.
Sold the falcon & bought a 1991 Chevy Lumina, traded it to my mom immediately for her 1992 S10 Blazer 4x4. Drove the Blazer through HS and College, sold it in 2006. I miss that thing - traded it in at Rice Buick/GMC on Kingston Pike and got $1200 for it. I wish I had kept it now.

Re: What was your first car?
The 1991 MR2 Turbo I autocrossed until I got my NSX fit for purpose was the first car designated for my use and later that I owned.
I was given a budget in highschool, and after some haggling, narrowed it down to an MR2 (with a Turbo being ideal), or a 300ZX (Z32). I remember being pretty bummed when an ivory-white N/A 300Z got bought out from under my dad and me. In hindsight, I'd like to thank whoever took that bullet for me. We got a screaming deal on the little '2. if you count race tires, wheels, and stuff, I actually got about 90% of the purchase price back out of it when i sold it two years ago with bad paint and rod knock. I learned some good car-life lessons from that car....not lifting in turns, never putting coolant stop-leak in any vehicle you plan to keep (the root cause of it's eventual demise), not using parts-store water pumps (thank goodness for non-interference engines).
I'd give it a 9/10 with only a knock to practicality. If I even find a sunroof or slick-top turbo for the right price, I'd do it again.
