STS and STC combining locally?

I overheard people talking about STC and STS combining . is this national or local or both? I only got to run one event in STC last season and didn't have magnets. Planning on buying a set for this season and wanted to make sure I didn't buy the wrong letters. This might have been covered but I couldn't find anything in search, sorry if it has been.

You will be in STS next year. This was a national decision.
