CAM-S
I can't find the thread where Dewitt questioned the legality of Cobra replicas in CAM-S.
We agreed that the final word would be the SEB.
I submitted a letter to SEB to that effect.
Response is already back from Doug Gill SCCA® Solo® Competition Manager.
Cobra replicas (any) that otherwise comply with the rules for CAM-S (2350lbs, 200TW, 90" min wheelbase, etc) are legal in CAM-S.
Go wild.

Re: CAM-S
That's great. Even with Hoosiers, the handicap of the XP PAX was too much for Cobra replicas. When I'm ahead of Jim on PAX, something's not right. Besides, the more the merrier in CAM.

What's really not right is when I'm ahead of Jim on PAX
Honestly, those cars always belonged (with the originals) in BS / ASP, SSP, tops.
And they would be challenging to make competitive in any of those classes...
The XP / EM classification on those cars has been completely ef-ing stupid from the beginning.

Re: CAM-S
There's the problem.
People losing their minds at the very thought of it, rather than considering if one can actually be prepped sufficiently to beat a nationally competitive BS / ASP / SSP car.
Instead, they just stuck them in classes where there's absolutely no chance of making them competitive.

How do you meet OEM standards when there is no OEM?MikeKelly wrote:There's the problem.

Re: CAM-S
How about this - put stuff in a competitive class.
If they're still not competitive - lower the minimum weight.
If someone makes a nuisance of themselves - raise the minimum weight.
Repeat as necessary.

I love that you guys have really been the first few people that I have seen make a Cobra replica work, but trying to do that on street tires in a "Street" sounds like pain. PLus, I don't know how you'd say what the standard configuration is for policing on a national level....things like wheel size and whatnot.
I could maybe see them in an *SP class

I am probably going to the cam event in Peru this year on street tires on the shelby, but it is an invite for me and I am not sure the car will do that well as I am going to be on 12 inch wheels with 335/30/18 rivals on the car.

Swap in a taller rear gear for the event?jcox07 wrote:I am probably going to the cam event in Peru this year on street tires on the shelby, but it is an invite for me and I am not sure the car will do that well as I am going to be on 12 inch wheels with 335/30/18 rivals on the car.
Some sort of fancy traction control?
Maybe soften the springs a little?

When I started autocrossing, they often won A Prepared, but attendance was terrible and the class was axed.MikeKelly wrote:Except for this part, in this specific case.steverife wrote:Sounds like Prepared to me.

Re: CAM-S
TC has already been 90% tuned out and I will just have to be easy on the throttle but if I do end up doing well or Pilson does well then we get a invite to the good guys final in Arizona in November.
