Classification of a Audi A4

Post by kaseysdad14 »

I have an 01 audi a4 Quattro 1.8t. I want to register for Bristol. This will be my first event in this car and my second time running. I know I can do stm. I have a cat delete pipe and im running upgraded coils but otherwise its stock. What other classes can I run in?

The cat delete would move you to that vehicle's appropriate street prepared class. I'm going to guess DSP, but I don't have a rulebook handy.

There's a link in the rule book post at the top of the Solo page. It says 2013, but there are links to 2014 and 2015. And it is DSP (Appendix A, p.185) with a cat delete. Street Prepared prep rules start on page 91 (p93 of the pdf).

And also, I have a whine coming from my power steering that im working on remedying. It doesn't affect the actual wheel action. Would it pass tech?

Your car would be appropriately classed in DSP or our local STM class. DSP would be a much more limited prep since STM is basically run-what-you-brung as long as you have 4 wheels and tire treadwear above 140 (200 next year). The DSP listing is on page 185.

The power steering whine won't cause you to fail tech as long as it isn't leaking.

We can run Junior Karts (JA and JB) at our local events where there are no issues with poles and wires. Bristol is an event where karts are specifically prohibited. We don't have the permission required from the national office for JC karts.

Welcome and we look forward to having you out driving!

As long as it isn't dripping power steering fluid on the ground...

Its getting a new power steering reservoir, cooler, and fluid this weekend. Thanks for the welcome. My boy won't be ready for anything for a few more years.

What should I expect at the bristol event. First, is it cash only for registration? And is there an extra charge for the speedway laps?

Cash or check.

Track laps are another fee of $40
