Anyone got any cool video or photos from "Miata's at the Gap"?

Post by 90civichb »

There are some really interesting swaps going on in the Miata world right now. There were also some very nice, and fast, cars up there. Overall the event was really cool. I can see going back again next year. Here is a quick clip of a good run I got with some pretty fast cars. Gotta wait a few days before I can grab some of the photos on Killboy or dragonslayer.

I wish I could have stayed a bit longer and run with you all. I just wasn't up for that hillclimb and I couldn't stay out so late since I was going to be out of town all this week. Had to spend some time with the wife.

I love all the noises your car makes though, I thought mine only made all those clunking noises during hard turns. I still can't find what is banging around.

Cool vids,HMMMMMMMMMM you mean like the gazillion cops and state cops that were there and busting anything they could find. Gee even a bike went over the road and into the trees. Coming back down saw a cop with bikes pulled over and he made a walking trip just to see if we had seat belts. What a take the fun out of a weekend fun event. Not even sure if a mid week trip would be OK now thanks to cop me out now.

^That's why I stay in NC the entirety of the weekend. I hit the Dragon twice....on the way in, and on the way out.

Yeah we (the 7, ATSV, GC8, blue BRZ) ended up going to the Hillclimb road, saw no one there, but getting there was terrible. So much traffic, so many cops. It was crazy. Wasn't even fun, 830 first 'run' through we got stuck behind three miatas crossing lines going under limit who wouldn't pull off. Stuck behind them all the way from the lake to the store. No manners from "sports car" drivers.

We saw you all, that ATS was awesome. The RS looked good as well. I was going to say hey but everyone went to get food and I was hoping to get a dragon run in.

Can't believe how much issues you all had. I got 2 great runs in with minor traffic and no cops.

Like a mini ctsv. I think they are a twin turbo v6, massive brakes, pretty carbon fiber, and really nice interior.

I was really digging that GC8.

Caged, RPF1's, RS3's, nice seats, nice brakes. I'm assuming WRX swap?

We were all drooling over that RS. The FD didn't look bad, either. The coolest cars I saw last weekend were not Miatas, hehe.

I hate to say it, but the hillclimb road is too bumpy for me. Maybe during the event when they sweep off all the rock, but man it was a mess. One of my upper strut nuts came loose on the way back, but luckily didn't fall off.

Yeah the GC8 is slick, 300whp+- STI swap. His suspension is a little soft for the gap but ate the bumps up,and the Cadillac took it like a champ. Could tell it was bumpy but it wasn't harsh. I left the 7 at the Village for that run (no ac, busted ass suspension, and tiny tires). Couple sweet miatas, but yeah wasn't too impressed, the OG Mini was sick and the LS3 Swapped Miata looked really good as well, but running 215 rear tires seems like a recipe for failure.
