spring rate
What is the correct spring rate front to back for a NA miata. 600 now on front but ? on rear rate sort of out of spec.

Re: spring rate
there is no "correct"
.. ya test different ones and what ends up being the fastest for "YOU".. is the correct spring rate.
fast Miata are anywhere from 1000/600.... all the way down to 550/250
mine is somewhere in the range.. but near few.

Re: spring rate
The typical ratio is 1.6:1 Front:Rear, but there's so many other variables to consider. Such as... weight, sway-bar(s), size of sway-bar(s), tires, type of course(concrete, bumpy, smooth, slick, etc).
Bob, do you know how much your car weighs? What shocks do you have, because they might not be able to handle super high spring-rates.

Re: spring rate
If its low enuf, what bumpstops matters more than what spring rates. . . It you run bump stops

Re: spring rate
Bumpstops matter but they matter a lot less when you can change the spring rate, than they do on a Street class car.

Re: spring rate
Are bump stops really going to make a lick of difference on these cars? How much is the suspension even going to compress with a 600 lbs or heavier spring on a sub-2200 lbs car?

Re: spring rate
when your running 1.25 in of shock travel..or less, the bump stop gets mashed a lot.
to combat that.. you use modified top hats. Car runs low... without contact with the bump area.

Re: spring rate
Extended top hats made a huge difference on my Bilstein/Ground Control setup. Before I could feel me smashing into the bumpstops all over Pellissippi. After the tophats it was like 1 or 2 places I could feel getting deep into them. I run the larger FatCat Motorsports stops but, many just buy some cheap Honda stops and cut them down.
