2005 Mustang GT

Post by TDawson »

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I am planning on running the event later in July with my 2005 Mustang GT and am not sure which class to run. Now down to the nitty gritty. It's a 2005 Ford mustang GT it has lowering springs, Hurst short throw shifter, long tube headers, catless h-pipe, bassani exhaust, sct tuner, 3.73 gears. I have more handling mods later on. It's still on stock wheels with Michelin sport tires they are 235 section width.

Hi.
Welcome to the forum and to ETR.

Sounds like CAM-C would be a good fit for your car.

Is this your first autocross event?

Yes this will be my first autocross. Also the only suspension mods are the lowering springs. I plan on doing more suspension mods once I can save up for them.

Welcome to the addiction and to CAM. There's a pretty good size group of us that run CAM, you'll have a blast. Feel free to grab one of us if you have any questions or jump in for a ride along. Also Jim Simmons, our Novice chief, will be a great help to you the morning of the event with registration, tech and a course walk.

Does anyone know of a good place I could try on helmets and buy one in or around Knoxville.

I don't know of anywhere that you can find an SA, but I got my M2015 at Cycle Gear. They are super nice (and did understand the M rating versus DOT) and ordered a helmet from a different store just for me to try. It was like right around $100 for a closed face.

Any other motorcycle shop should have helmets, but you will need to look in the lining yourself as they don't necessarily have to deal with our requirements on a daily basis.

If I had it to do over again, I'd go ahead and get an SA while I was at it. About $100 more dollars and those few times I've thought about hitting a track day, I didn't because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a helmet.

That was my thinking that I want to go ahead and get a SA for hopeful track days. The only problem is I don't know where to get one/ try one on and I've got a long head so I probably need to try it on before buying.
