That's about where it would be if we went 500.00 for top time 400.00 for 2nd time and so on, the winner wouldn't get as much as top time would.
Edit: The event only has so much money to pay out and pay lot fee unless we went up another 30.00 on entry fee to get more money on the front end and it's more about winning the event than anything else.
Due to the concept and "theme" of the event you've really got four different groups of people here that need an incentive. R-Tires Raw, R-Tires PAX, ST Tires Raw, and ST Tires PAX. That's the crux. There are folks that can run awesome raw times, and there are folks that can run awesome pax times. Some folks can do both. Motivating those equally is damn near impossible since there are no classes to win.

You could do top 3 for each of those at $100, $75, $50 and still have a pretty big pot for the finale.

Best I can count....you will get the following number of runs.
2 runs pwr side to set dial in
2 runs per side during qualifying
And then 1 run per side during eliminatioms.
That adds up to 9 runs per side for the folks im the final round.

That makes my example from my first round of the Match Tour to my first round in the shoout a perfect example.

And I dare anyone to say I wasn't giving it an "Honest run" during the match tour and qualifying......I was doing my damndest to not get beat by TomO on street tires

I'm not mad or anything about it Eric and I know you well enough to know you always give your all. I just disagree with making the break out rule to where it is easier to sand bag with a higher breakout. I think it is at the best number for the event and if the turnout doesn't get the numbers to have the event then we cancel it simple. This event isn't much different than the evo shootout was except that used pax. This could be the start of something big but if not then it doesn't happen no big deal to me, but my name is tied to it and I am not going to be in the middle of the bitching when somebody sand bags cause the number for the breakout is so easy to sand bag.

I went from 56.1 to 54.8 from 1st session to 1st round of the shootout.

I don't think you are going to be able to get far in the bracket without dropping a chunk of time. I see the last couple of rounds being where people are backing off trying not to break out. People drop all kinds of time from the 1st to last session at a Pro Solo.

We really messed up trying to give money back to the people cause everyone wants it catered to where it is easier to sand bag. Will defiantly not try to do this again.

That's not what anybody's saying. They're just saying you can't define sandbagging by a hard and fast number

I think the break out thing is a good idea. I just think it is tough to do it cumulatively. I would set a lower break out, but I would do it per round. Give people a new dial in like at a Pro or Match Tour. Like Eric said, with 7 more looks at course, people are going to drop time.

...and it is fine to have the rules this way and I'm eager to see how it plays out. I just think it is going to be a lot more luck and less skill involved in winning.

I've never been happier to not run race tires...

so... with all this "improvement talk" I looked at my year thus far.

Event 1.
42.2 to 41.6 = .6
Event 2.
38.5 to 38.1 = .4
Event 4.
46.0 to 43.5 = 2.5 (first time using 3rd gear in my FoST)
Event 5.
45.0 to 42.3 = 2.7 (first time in Harps car) .6 out of 1st/10 place in Pro.
Event 6.
51.7 to 50.5 = 1.2

Whats all this mean????????????

not a damm thing!

however, I dont worry too much about breaking out.

Quick question about the dial in time. Who or what decides what your dial in is? I grew up around bracket drag racing and the driver always set his own dial in time based on what he thought he could run. Based on this if I ran a combined time of 57.0 (cold) then a 56.1, I would set my own dial on time @ around 55.6 because I usually pick up time as I go along. Second question is if I think I screwed the pooch on my dial in time can I change it before the next round?

^^^ A couple pages back when I said this wasn't anything like bracket racing....that is what I was referring to^^^

If I could run 2 runs a side, know what I ran, then set my own dial in and run the breakout rules just like they are in real bracket racing.....(i.e If you breakout you lose and "first is worst") I would be ALL OVER IT. Then it really becomes about risk vs reward. I set my dial-in too fast and I give up too much time at the line and I lose...If I set it too high and I breakout and I lose. But the choice is up to me and I can change my dialin every round as the track condition changes or as I figure out the surface.

And there are bracket races every weekend that pay A LOT more than $1,000 to the winner.

I go to a National tour and I spend close to the same money and only have to beat 5 to 10 people to win more than $1,000 in tires, Mazda money and other contingencies.

I REALLY think there could be something special here, I really hate I didn't look into it until it was this far down the road because I think I could have been an asset as you all were coming up with the rules. But the way the rules are set I think there is a 100% chance I will breakout based on how I drive and I can't really do anything to protect myself from that happening.

I hope the event happens, I hope it is a success and I hope it happens again.

Choosing your own dial in would be amazing.

I like the way all of you are thinking! Do this do that. Have anyone of you not ever ran the 1320 in a real bracket race? Just asking cause you all seem to be having trouble. I want a K car automatic, almost bald tires with a fair tune up. Hmm deep or shallow stage. Green light go! Bye Bye.
