Nov. Fast Track
Nov. Fast Track
November fast track is out and supercharger pulley swaps are now legal, question is reward vs downfall? My car will gain 4-5 pounds of boost and 85 rwhp with a pulley swap and tune. That would put me at 610 at the wheels. With throttle control maybe viable, not sure it would be worth it....thoughts?

Re: Nov. Fast Track
you can only get so much to the ground... excess is lost to wheel spin.
thats a whole nuther problem.

Re: Nov. Fast Track
It's a balancing act. Horsepower for sure is an area of diminishing marginal returns. I would imagine with the amount of tire you run, putting down 610 HP would be more than possible.
I dunno what your car pulls in a straight line in 2nd gear, but unless it's close to .9g I would say you aren't out of tire. So go for it.
I dunno what it would be like when you run it in CAM though. You might be able to "kill" some power with an CAM tune with less timing. If your ECU has the ability to hold multiple tunes and change between them via a switch on the dash you could do that. If your ECU can't do that......buy a MS3 Pro

How many times have you ran an event and felt that you could have gone faster with more power?
Not to mention the number of people that have been competitive (or won a few years back) with 240'ish whp.

If that question is directed at me....I'll say 1. The Pro Solo Finale this year

Nah, towards JY.
I think more power may ultimately give the car more potential, but if you are barely using full throttle as it is...
Go to a class that allows aftermarket traction control and ballasting (that you can realistically use to get to min weight) and maybe that is a different story.

Also, in addition to STP getting the ax, a bunch of cars to DS and the Evora to BS and maybe some other things.
Worth a read...

^^This. I'm barely using the capabilities of my MS3 so far, but I'm very happy with it.

Re: Nov. Fast Track
Full throttle depends on course as sometimes I can be full throttle several times on a course that flows well and isn't tight and others you just can't be more than 1/4 throttle. There lies the issue of which way to go on the smaller pulley or stay the way it is.steverife wrote: ↑Wed Oct 31, 2018 7:11 am Nah, towards JY.

Re: Nov. Fast Track
I tend to think you end up with a car that is harder to drive.
I've never really messed with a supercharged car. How hard is the pulley swap? Is it something that you could do at events? Can you swap tunes on the fly?

Re: Nov. Fast Track
I tend to think if you cant go over 1/4 throttle considering the amount of tire you have, the weight of the car and a low 500hp range....I'd say thats an issue. I'm within 50 hp of that, weigh way less and have 35+% less tire on the ground
