If you eliminated those classes I'd build a CAM car with a large "Hey John" painted on the back bumper ;)

There is probably some equitable way to merge some of the P classes and maybe some of the SP classes, too.

...but I run populated classes, so I don't really care if we have 20 classes with 1 or 2 people.

I want to run the Pinnacle of "street cars" and right now that is SSM.

The tallent pool is deep and growing. The cars are diverse and that is growing as well.

Hoosiers aren't what makes the class great, but only having to have one set of wheels and tires does make it considerably less expensive to run at the pointy end.

If we were to end up on street tires, you would need multiple sets of wheels and tires for changing conditions.

Any time a new flavor of the week tire came out youd have to test.

Championships could be won or lost by a tire not being offered in your size.

There is ABSOLUTELY a place for street tires in Solo..... it it's not beyond SP.

If you kill SSM I'll take my car to XP where it's more than competitive already

If you kill XP I'll take it to EM where it could already finish on the podium.

Kill EM and I'll just go drag racing.

If they make C.U.M. I'll buy a set of wheels tires, bars and springs to run it for fun....but I'll never campaign the car full time on street tires.

Just seems pointless to build a car capable of 2g peaks and only let it hit 1.3

And to further clarify

I don't hate CAM at all as a class and think it's rather cool. I'm just tired of the special treatment for them. Become a real class and give up the "extras" or go run good guys.

The special treatment has CAM right behind F Mod for me in the more annoying things in solo at the National Level....and I'm clearly not alone.

CAM filled a gap in the SCCA. CUM would be vastly different. There are already places for cars like that to run and be competitive and is just yet another example of "Upward Motorsports" where everyone gets a trophy.

If they make CUM they need to kill or combine at least two classes and of that result is to combine SSM and XP I'm ok with it....we already run at the pointy end there as it is.

But to just to continue to add classes is further diluting the tallent pool for builders and drivers.

I would kill the current classes with dying car counts. So that would NOT be SSM/SM/XP, right?

No desire to run the Corvette on Street tires. If it gets too that point, I'm going to the track.
I'll run the car in SSP with limited prep if SSR goes away.

I see no reason to screw with SM,SP. the cars are awesome and it's great to see the engineering the owners put into them over the years.

You mean have lots of fiddly rules that don't always make sense?

I have a car that had been competitive in FS but wasn't any more. This car is also my daily drive. CAM makes a lot of sense to me. The car is now even more fun to drive on the street than it was when it was in stock trim.

Some call some of the CAM rules, "fiddly". Minimum weights that nearly exceed my car's stock weight, almost no aero...

Good to see you chiming in DeWitt. Hope the wife is doing well.

CAM sucks even more for not allowing Mid Engine Cars.
Prove me wrong.

Mark,

Thanks for asking. We've had some ups and downs over the last year. Right now she's in an upward phase again which we hope will continue.

On CAM rules, the operative word is some or a few, not lots.

Maybe people who run CAM should look for other places to run, since it is apparent that the SCCA membership does not want us involved.
