Motorsports park in oak ridge

Post by benk »

Saw this article just now, anyone know anything or anybody? Road course, amphitheater, go carts, no mention of anything like piddly autox or rallyx.

Auto-x could easily be done in a paddock area..... if it's somewhat flat.

Let's not be greedy. But let's also hope that islands are not part of that plan...

The meeting presenting this to the chamber of oak ridge is tonight at the oak ridge municipal building courtroom starting at 7pm and if you can make this meeting to show support of this venue it will make a difference.... I will be there in support of this facility being built. Thanks JY

Resolution passed City Counsel to move forward with the Oak Ridge Industrial Development Board (IDB), who is the custodian of the property at Horizon Center, ~327 acres of land.

Haha, go figure. A mixture of the Govt being unable to make up their mind and commit and developers/writers/lawyers/publicists writing things in a specific language to gain the most favor from an audience then getting caught.

And we wonder why things of this magnitude rarely gain any traction. We'll see.

I received this email today if anyone's in a letter-writing mood.
Hi guys.  In case you haven't heard, the city of Oak Ridge is currently evaluating allowing a motorsports park to be developed in the city.  The company pushing the idea even plans to use a F1 track designer for the track.  If you can, please email your support to the city development board and city council at the links below.  Apparently they are getting more negative input than positive, and most locals thinking a motorsports park is a dirt track or something similar.  Also, please share if you know anyone else that might be interested (I'm sure Rick knows a few hundred....).

Development board: oridb01@gmail.com

City: citycouncil@oakridgetn.gov

Thanks maybe in a few years we'll have a close place to run!
On 3/17 the development board is having a special called meeting.  The agenda is below.  Would be best if you contact them before this meeting.

Bump. This would be awesome and input from the public is very helpful. Emails are great, and anyone that's able to attend the actual meeting and speak a few words of support during public input would also be very helpful.
