The stock GM units were the best, I'm running a set of those know. When they fail, I'm going the Strano route.

I have in my garage all the components to convert to a 3rd gen setup, but the Strano keep ABS functionality.

I am putting the SKF hubs that Strano sells on my C5. I had one fail last year and have replaced it again under warranty.

The prevailing theory is that the stock hubs get hardened with street use and if you throw a new garden variety hub at them and just autocross on it, it will be short lived. I think that's why junkyard hubs on Camaros tend to last longer than the average new hub.

The SKF hubs Strano sells aren't garden variety and the cost reflects that.

So back to to the tire questions, NT05 seems to be the best double duty tire?

I like the RE71r, but am looking for something maybe a little cheaper.

Hankook RS4.

Or if you like delamination, maybe the Kumho V720.

I really like my Maxxis tires, both VR1 and RC1.

I wish these last few tire recommendations came in my size options. None really come close without stepping up to a 19" diameter, which I am not interested in.

As for the Timken bearings, I need to talk to my coworker. I could have sworn he worked for Timken here in the states. That doesn't mean the bearings I bought were not made outside the states, but he may know more about them than we do.

Me too.

Far as I know - NT05 is the only 200TW tire available in 315/35/17.

Timkin bearings seemed to be hit or miss. 315 r comps pretty much chewed through everything in one or two events. I haven't kept up with what the current street tires do to them.

Do they have to be 200tw? Original post says road course....I'd be tempted by R888Rs.

I have to agree with "200 TW LMAO".

That's exactly what I was thinking every time I checked Bradley's Rivals for texture and tackyness.

Certainly closer to A7 or drag radial compounds.

Those are the new hot Yokohama. They are really good, but wear terribly on cars that can't get neg camber. I'll be on Bridgestone this year....at least to start.

Camaro is back on the road!

I took it to Townsend last weekend, and tonight I got to be a little more aggressive with it by myself (wife was with me before) and test the tires and new brakes.

Overall, I'm impressed with these tires. New Wilwoods are good too. To be honest, I did so many changes to the car and I haven't driven it in so many months, it's hard to give a solid apples to apples comparison to before. The good news is I am happy and everything is done.

Now onto some track days. I got June 10th at AMP on my list. Anyone else interested?

The lists I have worked on in the last several months:
Water pump
Steering pump (TurnOne)
Belts
Hoses
Pulleys
Coolant Flush
Oil change
Trans Oil Change
Rear Oil Change
Front wheel bearings
APR wheel studs
Eibach Wheel Spacers
Wilwood front calipers
Wilwood front brake lines
New OEM rear calipers and lines
rotors on all corners
New brake cooling ducting
Rear control arms
Rear panhard bar
Fixed airbags leak
Polished exhaust
Polished the wheels
New tires
Adjustable rear sway bar and endlinks
ATE brake fluid
Adjusted rear bumpstops
Adjusted rear shocks
New lugnuts
