TT Nationals 2020 (late September)

Post by MARKP »

Thought I would go ahead and get a thread started on this. Last year, Thomas Lackey, Steve Vrooman, and I ran and had a lot of fun. Apologies if I forgot anyone. NCM was a fun track but there are a couple of "gotcha" places that can be dangerous if you don't know about them ahead of time. No big worries about them, though. If you are new, I can tell you about them. Last year, they had a school session on Thursday and I heard nothing but good stuff about it.

As of now I'm planning on it.

The track is available on Assetto Corsa.

Plan on going again. Like Mark said if you can make it Thursday you get a full day of no pressure practice, sighting laps and hopefully they'll have the class again.

TT Nationals has been open for less than 10 minutes and it is already over 1/5 full. If you intend to go, get on SCCA.com and get registered. Hope to see a lot of ETR people there!

Steve and Mark and I will be on site on Wednesday evening. I will be going to get some steaks from my place in Norris, if you want me to pick you one or two up I will be glad to and I will have my grill with me to grill whatever you want to bring. I will also have the camper and Steve will have his as well so we will be able to cook taters or what ever you want to bring..

Looks like 20-30% chance Fri-Sun, but not a washout by any means.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

Well

Great to see you all this weekend in BG. Sorry I didn't get to spend more time with you all, but with the big group from PGH there, and I have less chance to see them, I ended up hanging out there more that I planned.

Event was even bigger than last year and the weather was at least cooler than last year for sure. I THINK you guys had less rain overall for the weekend.

Super cool collection of cars and some great competition from what I could tell. Track cross looked to be a hoot, but that last big right on the east course turned a lot of cars into lawn mowers...lol
Maybe I'll be able to get there myself in a couple years once i get a car for it.

Heard it's going to be in JUNE next year... that will make for a hot sweaty weekend.

Huge thanks to Steve V for showing me the lines on the parade laps during the breaks and also Brian F for showing me his lines and the speeds of the corners where I wasn't carrying enough speed through them. Fun event but make sure you get track pads before doing these if you have a heavy high HP car. I think I could have gotten under 2:20 with those but my best lap was 2:23.2xx and I feel good about how the car did except for over filling the rear diff and it leaking onto the mufflers and causing smoke in certain turns. Got some other fine tuning before the next one. Thanks also to Mark Pilson for helping coaching me on how to drive the track as well. I will for sure do more of these. JY
