If you have a minute, take a look at these links. I would really appreciate it.
I'd like to get some non-nasioc opinions. The ebay header looks the same to me as the way more expensive header. It is known that the more expensive header is made by another company for the japanese market as well, so I'm thinking that there are probably some generic copies out there that are floating around.
Look closely at the flanges. That's what makes me think they are the same piece.
The difference in price? $250 shipped for ebay, $499 + shipping fer the MadDad.

I do not know enough to comment on whether the Ebay header is the same as the other one but they do look close. I do have a question. Is there a way to fit a header on a Subie that does not have the tight radius bends in the pipes for the cylinders on one side? That design looks like it hurts one side of the engine.

Dewey,
Yes, you can get an "equal length" header which will take out the bends. But it will also make the car sound like a riced up honda civic and I don't want that.
The equal length doesn't give much more power than the unequal, so I will keep my boxer rumble and go with the unequal. Weight savings is the big deal here. The stock header is frikin cast iron or something....it's HEAVY.

I voted that you were an assmonkey.
As far as the header goes, I would say it is probably a copy. I couldn't see the welds very well on either of the chrome versions and that would probably be a determining factor. The welds on the black one are artwork.
If it is a copy, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. One thing I have learned with the Hondas is that the old Mugen headers were really expensive and very good. DC Sports made a copy of the Mugen header after Mugen quit doing them. They were almost identical on the dyno but the DC Sports headers were anywhere between 25-50% of the cost of the Mugen.

Just take the turbo off if you want to save some weight, not only that but it's also a big restriction in your exhaust.
Maybe try emailing some of the people that have bought it off ebay (assuming ther are any) to see if they've had any quality problems after running it for a while. I know one of the ones on ebay for the DSM's are bad about cracking around the collector.

Erum.. excuse me. They look very similar but the welds would be the key point, as Pilson said. Just can't seem them close enough to make a good decision. But there's one way to find out. Just order 'em both and then swap 'em around until you find the better one.
