Going to Elizabethton Saturday?
I'm planning on going up Saturday and spend the night in Johnson City. I'm reserving a room with two doubles and extra space is available first come, first serve for a share of the cost.
Also, I'm pulling the trailer and will have room in my pickup for hauling tires, etc. Again, space avail first come, first serve.
PM me as needed. See you all on the 16th.

Daddy was a mechanic...It would have been nice if he was a doctor, but, then, we probably would have been 'sick' all the time instead of wrenchin' on these cars...

I'm trying to decide to go or not. Is is a good track? It's a rather good drive if it's not a good place to run....
If not, I have a 5K race I'll run in down in Chattanooga.

Here's a TerraServer shot of the lot. It's the big one to the right of the ball field.

North-South = 538 feet
East-West = 471 feet (widest point on the North end)
There are a few polls, but they're well over 100 feet apart. The surface is pretty good. Mark McCrary is the chairman and always designs a good course. Also, since it's a drive from Knoxville and a few won't make the drive, we'll probably get in quite a few runs. Last year we got 5.

The last time I passed by was almost a month ago. There were a bunch of trucks or trailers parked all over the lot. I was in traffic so I only got a single glance and I didn't have time to stop and scope it out. Does anyone have current intelligence that there are no Vehicles of Massive Obstruction currently on that lot?

I am in contact with EHS. They have a new principal whose first day on the job was today. I will be in contact with her tomorrow. The plan was that they would move the buses to the front of the school (opposite side from the lot we will use) on Thursday or Friday.
Stay tuned.

I decided I will be racing this weekend so I'll see you guys there.
If I remember, I will bring a few brooms with me. The last race I went to (Chattanooga) had tons of pebbles and debris on the surface, but nothing to clean it up with. They didn't keep any brooms in the trailer. I have a feeling this surface might need a little bit of prep as well - and becuase of my crappy weight distribution, I could use all the rear traction I can get.
Anybody else ever help prep the track before? It seems like every location I go to, when I walk to course, I always seem to pick up rocks or some sort of debris and get it off the track, and I always tell myself to remember to bring a broom next time, but I always forget.
You guys keep brooms in the ETR trailer?
Good luck and see you tomorrow.
Secondly - rain question. In ther last event in Chattanooga we raced in the rain, but in the ETR races we seem to stop for rain delays. What's the criteria as to when to race and when not to? I would hate to drive 5 hours round trip to only get a few passes in due to rain. Although the track is aweful with it wet, I still rather race than nothing.

I remember stopping at OR last year but don't recall lightning. But that was almost 12 months ago so I could be mistaken. Since you have brooms, I'll leave mine here.
Thanks for the quick reply scott.
See you gentlemen tomorrow.
