Are any of you guys traveling over together? I would like to have some company for the ride over tommorow. It looks like rain in the forcast. Is anyone else going? Please let me know.

My Blog Entry For The Day: Rained steadily during the first two heats, drying during the third, and dry for the fourth. 129 drivers. FTD was about 24 seconds (A-Mod). I ran in the third heat and got a 28.5XX which put me in second by .014. 3 runs, I coned the first two and missed second gear on the third. The organizers and local participants were a nice bunch. I might try to come up and run one of their night events. I probably wouldn't bother with the festival event again. They're limited to the short course by their insurance company and the danger of the curbs isn't worth it to me for such a short course. I do think they did the best possible with the course though... lots of fun transitions and a couple of short straights that allowed me to hit the limiter in 2nd.

Ditto the nice buncha folks. I haven't gone to very many out-of-valley events, but I plan to return to this one, despite the limitations of the course. Besides the people, portions of the drive over are entertaining as well.javascript:emoticon(':D')
ETR had several drivers register for this event, and although not everyone could make it today, those ETR folks who did go all trophied.

5 city lanes wide from curb to curb. Most of the course is in the center 3 lanes. Anyone who goes down S Charlotte street in the next few days can see the skid marks at the bottom of the hill at the turn around, where I messed up on my 3rd run. proof I can lock up my brakes now Top speeds going into the brake zone there was at least mid-upper 60's in my car maybe 10-15 feet off, and parallel to, the curb. The course was wide enough to fit a car thru without hitting the cones if you did it right
It was fun, and I did get to witness a vette purge his NOS right before thestarting line (course was wet and still misting rain) and promply be shuffled off the course, back to grid to have it disabled.

It was a good day for me even though my first two runs were in the rain with the AC going to kill the fogging up of the windows. My third run was by far the fastest but I hit two cones so my second time stood up for the win. I will definitely go back...I like the uniqueness of the event, and it gives me an excuse to have to go through the mountains and up and down the French Broad River on old Hwy 25, now 251.
