how fast you get there don't matter if you end up in the wrong place!!
I think a beater is cheaper than bodywork. What's the expected turnout?OvenMitts wrote:I would say it is fairly easy on the car, except I got a softball sized dent below my door last one I went to. First dent I have gotten, though. Other than that, all your troubles melt away when you're going through the course. Its hot too.
I went with Ovenmitts and Thrdeye to one in Nashville early in the season and it was a blast. Can't do it now a. engine blown b. coilovers. But if your on stock suspension or have some shocks with a comfy spring rate that you can adjust the dampner it isn't that bad. I did walk away with a few scratches on my side body panels from some fun in the gravel though but that was of my own accord

Nashville is the smoothest RallyCross area I've seen. No dips or G-outs, just grass on packed clay. The area we're using is overflow parking on the back side of the facility. Absolutely NOT a car-breaker.
Everybody sign-up and come enjoy the slidefest! OvenMitts, help me here! You know what I'm talking about.

Now where did I put that ...?
The Peugeot it ON FIRE and ready to go....(not like JD's car.)
I guess a French car is going to be the only thing there to represent ETR.
Does anyone think tech will have a problem with French battery tie-downs? (A big arse hose clamp that goes top-to-bottom around the battery tray frame/battery.) It's secure enough to jump up and down on, but is admittedly non-traditional.

What a blast...you guys missed out. I'll post up some pictures later. Peugeot is DEAD (but fixable)...and already sold for my purchase price.
I came away from the event with the impression that Rallycross is about the hardest thing on your equipment short of setting it on fire or pushing it off a cliff. I couldn't believe how many brand spankin new WRX/STis were out there giving it hell. I will never buy a used WRX.
It was about the most fun I've ever had in a driving event. It's a dirty, dirty sport.....
My impression is that you need a cheap, solid car, with abundantly available (cheap) replacement balljoints, struts, etc. I wonder how many times in a year Autozone will replace their Lifetime Warranty Monroe struts?
I think that with the right car, it could be a lot of fun. Old Civics, Escort GTs, Sentras, Neons would be good candidates. I don't know about the classing rules, but I think that stitch welding some strategic places on the car would be time well-spent. I can't see old factory spot welds holding up to that kind of abuse long-term.
Only auto-x type event I've ever been to where sliding through a gate sideways is the fast way through.
I think it would be viable to do a regional event here if all of the people who were initially interested would get on board.

Sunday's course was even faster and now with more sidewaysness! Your view of the suspension needs may have something to do with thirty year-old suspension bushings, but I don't know for sure...
You guys really put on a great show, drifting the that poor old frogmobile like no frenchy ever intended. Not sure who was grinning more-us watching you two, or you two with the bungeed shifter. Fun, fun, fun!
Next (somewhat) local event is Saturday, September 9th on Brayton Mtn. Go here http://dixierally.org/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=3 and here http://rivergate5speed.com/scca/index.html for more info.
