Do all 1.6 Miatae have the VLSD?

Post by steverife »

If not, how can you tell?

I apologize if this has been asked before. Search for Miata brings up just about every thread posted here...

Wow. That's a lot of crap to read.

So the VLSD looks to be optional. How can you tell if it is there? Call Mazda with the VIN? Is there anyway way you can tell visually?

They didn't all come with one, but it was optional. For a way to ID one from eyeballing it, follow this link: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/242583/3

Check the 2nd, 3rd and 4th pics from the bottoom of the page.

I have no idea.

I'm starting to get a little more comfortable in the Honda, but I'm not sure if I want to fool with it. Scuffcakes let me drive his car and I really liked it. STS2 is cheap and I think you can make a RWD a little more forgiving and still make it rotate. I went faster in the Honda, but the Miata felt better. I just wish they were a little more practical. I still want a Camaro, I think.

I might be wanting to sell mine soon, if you get a miata. I'm probably going to go to a 1.8 rear.

Shoot son, I drive my Miata every day (including overnight trips). If you want to test drive a 1.8 w/ LSD (to get feel fot them) let me know.

Your torsen and the VSLD are night and day different. The torsen isn't legal for STS2.

Thats what I get for chiming in on a car I am still learning about.

Just for the heck of it, is mine still an E stock car with the Torsen? I've about got Sarah convinced to co-drive at the Elizabethton event, but she refuses to drive the Camaro.

Do you haul 4 tires, jack, toolbox, cooler, jackstands, sprayer, helmet, overnight bag, etc? ;)

For whatever reasons, the ES cars don't really interest me. I'm pretty sure that I could talk my dad into splitting a '90-'93 Miata with me, but I'm not sure if he'd like ST springs, a race bucket, crazy alignment, and letting me take it on the weekends.

Nope, but thats what the Camaro is for. I did get a bag of golf clubs, two banker's boxes full of work files, and a suit bag in one though. As for tires: www.tiretail.com . I am curious if they can rif one of those up for the black car.

I've done that many times. I would guess that you could safely tow up to 600 lb. if you're careful. Ask Larry Huff about the difference in carrying your tires on-board vs. a trailer.
