Uh, I don't think from a tech point of view that this device will meet the intent of the rules unless those suction cups are augmented with a strong strap of some sort. The rules say:

"Video cameras must be securely mounted if installed."

If this device were mounted on top of the car, a strap could be run through both side windows, going completely through the car and over the top.

We do not want missiles taking out any corner workers or spectators.

Any other tech people or safety stewards want to comment here. I could not find a picture on their site where the device was used in an autocross.

when I get it, I will examine it and do some drifting, clutch kicks, and general rough use of it. That will tell me if it "securely mounted". Also, secure mounting on the inside will be nice. Donna

Are you are going to mount the camera inside the car? If so, we would definitely want the camera and mounting device strapped to something solid that would keep it from hitting you or a passenger if the suction cups let loose.

That is very interesting. I was concidering making a mount that I could use inside and outside. It was going to be braced using an open sunroof. It then could be mounted inside or on top of the car. I like the idea I could mount this on the side of the car, but I am sorta paranoid about the suction cups letting go.
