Class question

Post by jonam »

I am wondering if I can still run in SM class after some mods. I put race seats/harness and roll cage and removed rear seat back. If not, what is my new class?
Thanks in advance.

You could still run SM I believe. Not sure of the rules, but if you already have a sticker or magnet made up for the SM class, i'd just run SM.

if so, that's great.. :D
might be wrong, but I think I have heard that interior modification kicks me out of SM.

The rules state:
"Rear passenger seat(s), including restraints and associated
hardware may be removed."

The section from SP rules that is applicable to SM says:

"Any seat may be used, provided the seating surface is fully upholstered.
This does not permit the substitution of a passenger’s seat
with a child or miniature seat of any type. Any substituted
passenger’s seat must be sufficiently large and strong to be capable
of adequately accommodating an adult, such that it could be
used as the driver’s seat. The seat tracks are considered part of
the seat and may be substituted. The OE seat belts may be removed
to facilitate the installation of alternate restraints complying."

So, with the mods you stated above you should be ok in SM, even if anyone cared.
