Yay.
Yay.
All the stuff came in today, and the tires looked massive. dropped it all off to be mounted hopefully early in the morning. But! Does anyone have any 5mm wheel spacers with a 5x4.5(5in.x114.3mm) bolt pattern that theyd like to let go? gonna be a tight squeeze, might get some rubbage on the inside suspension components.

5mm? got 4 of em? if so the tires are definately going to rub because thats a sign. i'm gonna throw the tires on the car, chalk the sidewalls and mark the control arms to see if they rub tomorrow durin the first heat cycle. if i've got substantial rubbage i'll let ya know and ask ya to bring em out Sunday.gbwrx wrote:I have some that you can borrow this weekend if you don't get any in time. Yep and Yep. I will have them with me. I believe Stu has quite the assortment of spacers if you by chance need some bigger.
I have to use these when I run the stock wheels which are 53 offset. I don't have to use them with the Rotas (48 offset). Tires rub bad with the stock wheels. They still rub with the Rotas but not as bad.

cool! you just take them off when you put the R-comps on? be just the reverse for me. Does any place in Knoxvegas sell them or did you guys both have to order offline?gbwrx wrote:Yep and Yep. I bought them online. I believe I got 2 off of ebay and then 2 more off of someone on NASIOC.
I only use them when I autox with the stock wheels with R's on them. Otherwise they just sit in a box.
Edit- I think you can get them locally but I forgot the name of the place that people were telling me about when I was looking for some. You may be able to find my post in the for sale thread when I was looking for some.

Washers and duct tape! these cheap-o wheels I got for the r-comps are +28...apparently you can run 295/30-18's with a +23 even with a drop. figured running that offset would remove any chance of rubbage.steverife wrote:I've been trying to find some 8.5mm spacers for a while and haven't really turned anything up that wasn't custom.
looks like autozone here I commmmeee, thank ya Gary!

we can get a pretty good selection at autozone, would have to order them, but its usually next-day arrival.

lol theres no way using washers did that unless he put so many on that the lug nuts only got ahold of like 1 or 2 threads...did he forget to tighten the lugs like that RX7 guy?steverife wrote:A few of us know someone who tried that.ke0ki2k wrote:Washerssteverife wrote:I've been trying to find some 8.5mm spacers for a while and haven't really turned anything up that wasn't custom.

That is absolutely what did that. Washers don't have the surface area that a wheel spacer does. They are also not machined to the tolerances that wheel spacers are. Basically, they will move, compress, etc. until the studs or lug bolts fail.ke0ki2k wrote:lol theres no way using washers did that unless he put so many on that the lug nuts only got ahold of like 1 or 2 threads...did he forget to tighten the lugs like that RX7 guy?steverife wrote:A few of us know someone who tried that.ke0ki2k wrote: Washers
DO NOT use washers where you should be using a wheel spacer.
