That way, you don't have to worry about having someone ask you guys to move half way through the season. CP is going to cover so many allowances that if you have something done that technically doesn't meet the CP rules (change stroke for example) then probably nobody will care.

If you make a gentleman's agreement that you won't protest each other for subframe connectors, replaced rear gear, no carpet, etc then that is great until someone new comes up and asks you guys to run in the appropriate classes.
100% agreement here, which was why I was considering CP. I will commit to it if we have a couple of our other regular muscle car drivers also commit so we have some good competition. Otherwise, I'll just stick with SM.

Good grief.........just stick to SM. It's just a class, nothing more. Personally, i'd like to be in whatever class gets to run FIRST GROUP.

in my experinece last year that was CP :)

You have a good point I hadn't figured on the occasional newbie who might get shafted or feel like we are a bunch of cheaters.

Tony, what do you think of the NASA classing system

I guess it's ok. I'm not much on any classing, I only run a number and letter on my car because I hafto. I just go out and get the best time I can, and go home.

I just don't see autox as anything more, I like to go out and have some fun with sticky tires, thats about it.

I just plan to run where my car legally fits, and to the best of my understanding, that's SM. It's at least 600 pounds heavier than the next heaviest competitor anyway. It's not like I'm going to bring home a trophy in any class that it might sneak into. I'm just out there for the fun.

I doubt you have anything done to your car that would keep you out of CP. Just a matter of choice.

I don't think the weigh penalty for running 17's would be an issue.

You are correct. Isn't CP is an even higher class than SM with a worse PAX/RTP multiplier? If that is the case, why would I want to run a class that is higher (faster) than I have to? Just because there are fewer entries?

If I'm wrong and CP has a more favorable PAX/RTP multiplier, I may consider doing this. But I really don't like having only one or two (or none) other cars in my class, so I might run SM anyway. I'll have to think about that.

I agree.......If/when I get another car, it'll most likely be an SS car. I think you know which car that is. ;) I know my car really isn't competitive in any form of stock/prepared class on a NATIONAL level, so I figure just make it as fast as I can with what I have. It's a "driver car" anyway, I dont know many autox cars running Image

Steve - Well, my car came from the factory with 17's, so that's what I run. While I don't plan on putting racing rubber on my Forgelines, they only weigh 19 lbs. each. That's 9 lbs. less than the stock wheels. It's not like a weight reduction program would make much difference on this barge anyway.

Well, I just found the 2005 PAX/RTP factors that will be used:
http://www.scca-chicago.com/solo/indexes/rtp2005.html

As I suspected, the RTP multiplier for CP is not as favorable (higher) than the one for SM. RTP for SM = 0.842 and for CP = 0.855

So what is the verdict? Who of the V8 RWD cars is running SM and who is running CP? I'm still trying to decide which class to run this year.
