Tire Trailer

I just ordered this small utility trailer from Harbor Freight - $268.98 delivered. Rated at 1400 lbs, comes with lights/wiring, safety chain, 12" tires, diamond plate decking, and powder coating.

I plan to mount a lockable plastic tool box in front of the axle and a 4-tire lockable rack behind the axle. No more carrying tires and tools in the trunk and back seat. I hope to have it road-ready by early March in time for the CMP open track day event.

Hey Terry!

I bought a trailer for hauling around to drag races last summer. It was already "built up" with all these extras, but I think the trailer may be the same as the one your starting with...

That looks very similar to what I have in mind. Harbor Freight also has a red one (the one I ordered is black) without the diamond plate decking; it's basically the same trailer without the decking. Looks like that's the one you got. I was planning to put the tool box in the front so that more weight would be biased on the tonque, regardless if I am carrying 4 tires, 2 tires, or none). But there looks to be a little more real estate in front of the wheels than behind them (4 tire stack is a 2"-4" wider than between the wheels.

Since you are in Knoxville, I'd like a closer look at how you did the tire rack. Could I meet you sometime in the next 2-3 weeks for a look?

I live out west too, so visiting you would be real convenient. We're supoosed to have crappy weather this weekend and my trailer won't arrive for 2-3 weeks anyway, so I'll e-mail you in a week or two to schedule a visit. Thanks!

Hey man,
I see your car @ Courtsouth a lot, and I was wondering what kind of hitch are you using on the back of your car? I never noticed a trailer hitch on it before. BTW - sweet 'Vette.
