Trailer repair/rewire?

Post by LeadSSled »

Does anybody know of (reputable) someone in the area that works on trailers? I have an 18-foot dovetail open car trailer with full steel deck that I purchased from Rob Carpenter about 5 years ago. It is structurally sound and I completely rebuilt the brakes less than 1000 miles ago, but it needs some updating.

The most imminent issue is that it needs to be re-wired. The brake lights, brakes, and turn signals work OK, but the regular running lights have recently stopped working. I have checked the electrical connector and that is not the problem. I still get voltage in that circuit about 4 feet beyond the 7-prong plug; the problem is somewhere in the trailer and not the connector. What I would like to do is to have the trailer completely re-wired with new cable, and possibly add some additional LED running lights to improve night visibility. I really need this done in the next 2-3 weeks and do not have the time nor energy to do it myself. If the price was right, it could use a fresh coat of paint too.

Does anyone here have a recommendation for someone that would:
1) Rewire the trailer, possibly adding a few running lights?
2) Give it a fresh coat of paint? (Less critical)

Thanks folks. I appreciate the feedback.

Awesome. Lenoir City is very convenient for me too. I'll look them up and give them a call. Thanks!

I used Phoenix... they are located on Parkside Dr. I believe with all the carlots. They did work on my old open trailer and I was satisfied with the results. Not sure if they do painting though, they might if you ask.
