My race weekend... good, bad and ugly. lol

Post by John Brown »

This past weekend was Summit Point, another place Iv never been to,but despite all the hurdles...had a real good time. Apparently a fast car is always finding ways to break.
I won the race on Saturday, but really the big too-do is the Feature race on Sunday. So after qualifying 3rd by finishing 3rd on Sat..this is my 15 min of fame, less 9 min.

another view of the race from 5th or 6th place.. 34 in the field. These guys are very serious about chasing that lead car!!

this guys vid actually starts a few seconds after the green flag waved.. As you can see how slow the pace car kept us,I was not able to warm the tires hardly at all...and about the time they get some heat in em and I start to distance them... I broke.

His cool suit cooler bracket came loose, the ice-water escaped, and drained out in front of the rear tires.

That looked fast as hell.

Whats the sputter at low rpm, accell enrichments need to be smoothed over?

The car must be a blast, I'm jealous.

thats not a sputter.. thats my foot testing the cold tire traction... It takes about three laps to come in 100%

154mph on the front straight.. 134 under the bridge. yea, its pretty fast.

Oh! and most dont know this..but the blue car that I pass on the start.. is Julie Wolf. a gurl! from California..and as far as I could tell, could drive circles around D. Patrick. and She won overall on Sat.

Damn, 150+ is moving! I was at the Lemons race there last month (they ran the other circuit), and we cruised the paddock of this circuit. Sucks about the broken axle, but at least you got some seat time. :D

How do you like Summit Point (since you're clearly pretty fast there :!: ? I've never run the main course, only the full Shenandoah circuit.

fun, with a couple of tricky kinks..that I never got the time to get them right.
Very bumpy in some hard acceleration spots. Not as much run-off as I prefer.. but is there ever???

NIce job, John. Sorry about the breakage. :(

My wife's brother lives up there on the southwest side of Charles Town. It is maybe 10 minutes tops to the Summit Point track. My wife's cousin has been working at that track since the 70's when Paul Newman drove there. I've been talking about dragging my land yacht up there for a track day, but haven't been able to to that yet.
