Most comfortable seat???

Post by Budman »

Looking for opinions on a comfortable race seat that would be legal for HPDE's, track days & time trials. Will be running 600 lb springs at the minimum on front and stiffer on the rear. Wish there was a place in the area that kept a decent selection so a person could test-sit in them.

Last time I went to Performance Products, they had a decent selection. Like you, I woudl like to sit in them first.

I like these for the price: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+ ... 0/10002/-1

I've been told they are comfy, but that is also subjective due to your size and the vehicle it's going in.

They have a good HPDE program over there... if you have any questions about it, just holler at me sometime.

I have a Sparco seat that you can try. It is basically the street version of the Evo.

I'm going to have a Sparco EVO L (34-38" waist) and a standard size Recaro Proracer HANS seat for sale soon. They are in my storage building, but if you (or anyone else) has any interest I can get full details and pics. Both have sliders. Both have timed out now so a back brace would be needed for some uses. Was going to wait till spring to get rid of them but if someone is looking...
I can't fit in either seat these days and for that matter have nothing to put them in anymore so they are priced to sell. $200 Sparco $400 Recaro

they are in Jefferson County btw, not in Mississippi

The car is primarily going to be a HPDE/track day/time trials car, but may see a bit of street time too. The seat must be designed for use with a five point harness at the minimum. Right now still getting the turbo parts together but will be looking to buy some seats in a couple of months. Was really just wanting to know what are some comfortable options in a a race seat when the suspension is not forgiving.

Comfortable is good, but also keep in mind what will crash well since you will be doing track events. I've heard of the adjustable back seats not staying together in an impact. Some of the higher end aluminum seats are surprisingly comfy. If you can, sit in it and read a book for a while. Ive done that with motorcycles too. In 30 minutes you will find out if it is a torture devise or not.
