You can get the V720s in a 225/15 for the same price of the 71r's in a 205/15. I wish JB wouldn't had put up a half second faster time when he switched form the V720s to the 71r's at the last event.
I wonder how fast the V720 would be on a 15x9? JB is running them on 7.5's. Maybe faster than a 205 RE71 on whatever wheel is appropriate for them.

Food for thought. You're not class limited the way STS cars are.

the turn in on every salom cone was so vague on the RE71 as compared to the V720.. that I ended up running over 2 and almost 3 salom cones.. which was for sure faster in that section. Then, I tried a much different and better turn at the bottom of the schute and the entry to the next salom was spot on .. I had not done that all day. If I had one more run on the V720, Id have got another .3 out em I believe.. just on the bottom run.

Now! all this says that both tires are great!! I may encounter a surface that one of the 2 works much better.. time will tell. The sole reason I ran Kumho at Dixie is the DOUBLE pay out.

I've driven the car about 8000 miles in the last year including 5 autocrosses - and I basically daily'd the car over the summer and end of last year due to my Subaru being down a few times for maintenance. I still like the g-Forces but spending another $100 will have me a set of 200TW and zoom zoom. I've read about the Kumhos having issues with center tread delaminating and wearing out really fast...I really need to be able to get 10k miles and 2 seasons out of a set for it to be cost-effective, I'm not good enough to warrant spending $600/year on tires as a college student

I'm thinking to get a set of the BFG's for now then put some RE-71R's on a second set of wheels as dedicated autox tires later this summer when I've got a bit more in the bank :)

Thanks everyone for the advice!

I don't think you'll get two seasons from any tire. Assuming you mean two autox seaasons

The BFG he mentioned wears pretty good in my experience. It just won't have the grip that a 200tw tire will provide. Adesa will chew up any tire, though.

The Kumho problem seems to happen on actual tracks, and not so much on autoX courses. None of the "special" 200TW's (RE71R, Rival S, V720) seem to really last on track even compared to 100TW race tires.. They're made for quick AutoX runs. It's almost like comparing them to Hoosier A7's and the other 200TW's are like R7's. If you want a tire to last and wear well, none of those 3 are probably going to be the tire to have, but seem to be the thing to have if you want to be competitive.

I think I could've gotten 2 seasons on my Dunlop star specs easily. I ran almost an entire season and there was a lot of the tread left. Not the #1 autox tire but would make a great dual purpose tire. It's also what the lemons guys run on their cars I think.

Yeah, the Dunlops are notoriously long lasting. Good tire if you aren't trying to win PAX.
