Chris, sounds a little high to me to buy sight unseen. Though the pics do look good.
There is a 1st gen Miata (blue) on a lot on John Sevier that I've been driving by for a while. It looks (from the road) to have been nicely repainted recently (nice dark blue, not the smurf color). Their sticker is $3995, but based on the amount of time its been sitting there you'd probably get it for $3k. Not sure if its a 1.6 or 1.8.

Thanks for the advice.
I've posted on NASIOC to see if I can get someone to drive the car for us.
Mazda Knoxville offered to buy the MSP right out for 11k
We'll do some driving tomorrow and take a look at the one you mentioned Dave. I was worried that it was teh smurf color when you said blue.

We have several early miata that y'all are welcome to try on or even drive. I will warn you that a stock Miata seems slow but you can speed it up for a small investment unless you want to keep it stock(and very few miata are stock).

From a quick scan of the pics, it is a base model car with no options other than power steering and AC. About the only thing that would really concern me is 1) the missing cover under the steering wheel, 2) condition of the seats(you really cant see the high wear area of the bolster) and 3) spark plug wires. The only owner mods seem to be the RB intake(a good thing), wheels(probably heavier than lead) and stereo(you cant hear music in a miata anyway). I would offer $4200

The dealer on ebay. $5600 for a 93.
Here is a 94 in Raleigh. He wants $5k for it. I would like to be somewhere around $4k OTD and he didn't go for it. What would you guys pay for this one? It isn't STS2 eligible, but it really isn't gonna be an autocross vehicle so much. This would would be cheap to run Kumho 710's on anyway. It is Mish's car and she likes the fact that this has power locks, etc.

I would think about $4500 to be top end for this car. Looks well cared for so that's a plus. Notice the dented front bumper from the front tag. That's pretty normal though. It's also probably still on OEM shocks. They don't usually last much past 60k so if they haven't been replaced, that's another point to knock down the price with. If you could get it for $4k I'd say go for it. Throw some Koni sports and V710s on it and it would be a cool ES contender locally.

Dave, I found the blue car on autotrader. It's a 1990 with 177K on the clock. That's a lot of miles. If it runs out strong, is it anything to be afraid of? That's about 11K a year.disneyd wrote:Chris, sounds a little high to me to buy sight unseen. Though the pics do look good.

Average retail for the car is right at $3000 per NADA.
