Posted up a quick video of my fastest and wildest runs from the event. I think this weekend was some of the worst driving I've done this year, but it was still a fun course. Also, posting this for everyone asking what the GoPro sounds like with the external mic. I'm still looking for a cheap way to get stereo recordings with the GoPro.

I had issues on my fourth and fifth runs that I thought was just me over driving it but the tires felt really slick. I tried to turn in that bottom slalom the last run and it was like being on ice it kept going straight.

We really did enjoy the course and the change up. Thanks Mark.

Michael ...I liked the external mic ...I just think without seeing your steering inputs in the video your not getting much feedback from it. A placement on the drivers side quarter window might be a better location choice. It's fun to watch for sure.

After Lin and I took our first runs on the RE71's... I was amazed how slick and un predictable they were. Over a second slash in time on run 2,and the Kumhos never seemed to give up on me..even with a 2 driver car in that heat..and zero cooling. Im sure the near zero bias of my car helps along with the weight of the car..!
I'm guessing the pavement was a bit hotter in the third run group, but didn't have any way to check. My car with me in it at the line is 2420 pounds :( Tires were at 24 F, 26 R. The co-driver probably didn't help much with tire temps either.

Besides my passenger in the first run and my second run slide that was probably a full second, I did a 49.6, 49.9, then a 50.2 for runs 3, 4, and 5. It was like every run was dropping just about 0.3s. Part of that was my driving, I tend to slide a car a bit, and not entirely sure how much it would hold on as the lap progressed.

At cold events the setup has worked pretty well, seeming like the tires turn on a bit easier than some of the other cars do. On data logs from the match tour there was always a point part way in to the lap where the tires got to temp and the g load would start holding over 1.3, but the first part of the lap wouldn't do it. I had another day at a TnT where they went over temp and times really suffered in my car. Cooled them down for a while and the times came back. I should probably invest in a tire pyrometer.

2nd heat and Bridgestones, but I felt that the course was getting faster for me every single run.

On the Mustang, Hoosiers are ok with some slip angle as long as you cool them between runs on days this hot. Slide them too much and they get overheated for the rest of the run.

We were scrubbing tires, so no data. The car was fun to wheel around with some sliding.

I was starter for that heat and that rings a bell. I wouldn't want to rely on my memory alone, but I'll second someone else.
I'm 100% certain that he stalled and DNF'd. That is just my theory as to why it wasn't caught.
Ok cool. I'll update everything tonight. I talked to Cody last night and he agreed the time was impossible with a stall, I just went ahead and ran results and points so they'd be up.

JOhn Smith

I run 24/24 or 25/25 on my STS car.

Im thinking your too low of pressure which raises the temps faster. My car weighs 1960 lbs. You may want to go up to 28psi square. I also run 225's..are you ?

At the Bristol events I ran pressures around both front and rear. The front seems to be best at 25-26, which half the runs for this event were run at. The last run was the lowest pressure I ran at this event, 24/26, the others were actually 25/27 but it was pretty much the same. The rears are probably a bit happier up near 28. I probably shouldn't have tried running down pressures given that things were already looking like they were too hot.

I've got a 225 front on a 15x9" and a 245 rear on a 17x9". Yeah it's a stagger etc. 6 speed with 3.9 rear end for gearing and extra rear spring rate had it handling well by the couple events before this last one.

I was running 26f/ 25r with good results but high tire wear to center. I've went back up to 28/27 but I think I've lost some traction. Wear has improved somewhat. I think my car is around 2550?

Is that the weight without you in it? I knew the MSM model added weight but wow. Mine is 2240 without me in it. What size tire on what size wheel are you using?

Yeah it's heavy. Im running 17x7 square and 215/45 rubber. Biggest thing I could fit to help the gear ratio.

My MSM weighed in at 2500 pounds with a hardtop and without me in it....

Also, I have to run around 21 psi with my v720's (225 on 15x9) and still the wear mark is above the triangle indicators!

The outside edge is awesome. It holds up better than a RE71. It's the middle rib that is getting excessive wear.
