Heat Cycle or Not

Given that the BFGoodrich 315/30/18 tire is on back order, I'm considering placing an order for another set now, as mine are getting thin. They're fine for competition, but driving to Bristol in the pouring rain was a little more exciting than I liked. When I was looking at placing an order, I saw Tire Rack offered an option for heat cycling the tires at $15/tire. Does anyone think it's worth doing?

Not on street tires of the bfg brand I would not.

I ask BFG and they said no need for heat cycle.

I never did it for race tires. No way would I do it for street driven tires.

I don't know the BFG's, but the Bridgestones need a good scrub in. The first 3-5 runs are a little weird.

I wouldn't run a sticker street tire without some miles on it.

This is different than the heat cycle you are talking about though. That I would not do.

the rack "heat cycle" does not have the abrasion or loading your car will put on the tire. For autocross getting the mold release off the tire is more important if you want them good out of the box. In other words, the rack is just taking your money and giving you nothing. Don't do it.

If you want to give me $60 I will drive you car and scrub your tires for ya. :twisted:
