So with my M3 I have wheels that are 17x7.5 squared, and an offset of +41. I looked and I looked to find lighter wheels with a goal of shaving 5lbs or more, current wheels are 22lbs... I have found that Enkei makes a rpf1 5x114.3 17x7.5 et48, which weighs 15.25 lbs but I have 5x120 lug pattern. I have been told find someone reputable to do a drill and fill and add a 14mm spacer that is .8lbs
my issue here is I would like to be reassured this will help my car by dropping 5.8lbs at least per wheel is worth the trouble and the expense. also if a drill and fill will hold up. I have no experience here....
these are the only set of wheels that seem worth the money, other than them being made in the wrong lug pattern. I have called multiple companies and most only have 17x8 or they are 3lbs lighter and double the price

Pilson and Trey Davis did a fill and drill years ago. I think.

As far as dropping 6 lbs per corner, I don't think a difference will be obvious on the clock, but you can feel a big difference driving the car.

I don't know how much you are spending on this but it sounds like a lot of work. The weight savings is significant. Effectively, it's like taking 14 lbs off your flywheel, plus the added benefit of less unsprung weight.

What Trey and I did was get some wheels re-drilled to match the bolt pattern, after we had the back of the wheel machined to get it flat. We used a stock Mazda wheel so it was pretty beefy at the lug holes and we only used them on the rear of a very front heavy car. I'm always leery of re-drilling a wheel unless I feel like the wheel is really overbuilt where the lug holes are. I would probably be more comfortable getting someone to cut 1/2" out of a 17x8 and welding them back together, if the offset still works.

Can't you go +1 inch in Street? I would opt for an Apex wheel or something made to fit.

Fill and drill scares the hell out of me.

Are you factoring in the weight of the spacer?

+/- 1 diameter in Street. I think the best tire options are probably 17" though and a 18x7.5 might be difficult.

okay staying away from fill an drill maybe going toward a set of advans that are blanks waiting to hear back though 18's are expensive tires and not a fan of the look on stock height

17.8lbs isn't bad but I have to add a .7 lbs spacer and longer wheel studs to make that happen as the perfect offset is +34 oem is 41..... thank you I didn't see that on tire racks site

is there any way to get approval for 17x8...? going to prep the car for nationals this year (D-street) or giving up and hopefully finding a sedan slicktop to prepare for DSP

@chris yeah it is, my issue is I am not going to spend the money unless its more than 5lbs per wheel difference. the main issue is finding a 5x120 lug pattern....

Do 16's clear the brakes? You could get 225/50/16 RE71R's and your choice of a couple of 16-17 lb wheels.
