Here's the info I have -

OEM ND Front Sway Bar = 132 lbs/in

MY BAR -
Karcepts ND Front Sway Bar Kit - 0.120" Wall:
Hole 1 = 429 lbs/in
Hole 2 = 478 lbs/in
Hole 3 = 538 lbs/in
Hole 4 = 610 lbs/in
Hole 5 = 695 lbs/in
Kit Weight = 9.5 lbs

Reason I'm asking is that we went down to hole 1 yesterday. Not a lot of ND's doing that, and it really surprised me, but it seems to work.

I guess If I knew my motion ratio, I could calculate my applied spring rate, but is there a reasonable estimate in this case? Hole 1 is a huge increase over stock, and I'm starting to think that anything more than hole 1/2 is going to be too much, given the fact that the Miata has a good suspension and body roll isn't necessarily a bad thing.

(note to self.) any change for that course/lot may have negative effect on National Life Size courses.

Oh you didn't hear about the Smokies Pro Solo?!

Yeah, seriously, I understand that though.

In my opinion they are just numbers and unless the car becomes pushy in hole 3 and beyond, the seemingly high rate value has no meaning. To add the rates up you would have to do the motion ratio to the wheel or just the distance between lower shock mount and the sway bar mount.

Karcepts guy also gives good insight on the S2K board: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-racing ... 70/page46/

Thanks for that link. Essentially, you can't compare any published rates because you don't know how they have been calculated in most cases and it's highly unlikely that all manufacturers calculate the same. Argh.

Calculate it by the seat of your pants. You know when the car was better, keep going with the same adjustments till you go to far and the car gets worse. Then go back to the setting before it started getting worse and that should get you in the ballpark at any venue.

Thanks guys, it was an awesome day. I might be just as surprised as some of you. I didn't expect to do that well. Once I started going to 3rd coming up from the bottom instead of riding the limiter in 2nd the times just started falling.

I see a lot of places that I screwed up in both videos, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut and let everyone else chime in first. Lemme know what you think please.

The big difference in the runs is that I shifted back to first going up the exit chute on the faster run. However, I was ahead in the slower run until the top of the straight coming up from the bottom, even though I pushed wide there in the faster run and was a couple feet off the first slalom cone. Lots of back and forth in the two videos. Really shows how much tiny differences change times.

I don't see much wrong except the obvious mistake on the first slalom cone on the fast run that you mentioned and that probably cost you .400.

You might be able to cut a little distance on the entry to the lower bowl turnaround, but that's very difficult to say and even then, you were pretty close. All in all, really solid driving. You're adapting well.

One big thing that I noticed when riding with Robert, is that he was contanstly pushing the front tires, making them howl. I don't seem to do that because I feel like I'm over driving them or over working them....Going to try to be more aggressive in middle/late corner. (I'm too aggressive on entry, IMO).

This is the best I could do on Sunday in Harp/McCrary's old RX-8. I learned some things, and it's a fun car to drive!

If you left some stuff in grid, Chasity probably has it. Let me know what you are missing.

I left my toolbox, coat, cooler, and air tank in the grass at grid. Probably more stuff. Our 20 minute drive to go get a trailer was made much longer by traffic.

Chasity has your stuff, Jon. I can probably get it from her this weekend. We meant to leave it at my house.
