I didn't get anything. My gps apparently either didn't like the cold or the tumble it took off the dash to the floorboards. Which leads me to ask, is there a way to get video and obd data without the gps working?

You can use the gps on the tablet but it doesn't refresh as fast as the other one and yes you can just use solo storm on the tablet and if you have the obd2 you can get limited data with it. Android is the system we use Brian....

Heck I tried switching to the tablet internal gps and it wouldn't pick it up either. Kept giving me the waiting on gps screen.

I always start that thing and get it searching for satellites as soon as I get to the site. Sometimes when there are obstacles around it may not pick up enough satellites.

The internal GPS of tablets is pretty useless most times. Doesn't have a fast enough refresh rate to give anything valuable.

Yea I always do too. But mine wasn't even giving any lights to show it was turned on even though I charged it the day before. And of course I left the cord to charge it at home....

I generally have charging cords for tablets and gps in the top of my tool box in the trailer, just grab what you need and fire up a generator and charge it as it may have just needed a jolt to start for some reason.

SoloStorm is Android only. For iOS, there's Harry's Laptimer. It costs a lot less than SoloStorm, but is mainly designed for track use and doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of SoloStorm.

As stated, internal GPS, is useless for autocross. The update rate of 1Hz is too slow. You need at least 5Hz and 10Hz is better. I don't know about SoloStorm, but Harry's data acquisition is tied to the GPS, or at least it used to be. If that doesn't update, nothing else is stored. That may have changed in the latest version, though. I haven't had a chance to test it. Harry's has both iOS and Android versions.

I always plug everything in to my car rather than trust batteries.

We had issues on video on first runs. But Iā€™m pretty sure we got the fastest ones. Hopefully Jim can upload some of them. It would be great if someone can make a cheat sheet for us inexperienced data loggers to be able to post them up. Like step by step for dummies! I think videos of others are probably the best learning tool out there if you can break down their reactions and techniques.

The RaceCapture stuff is 15% off over the weekend. Still deciding if that is something that would be of value to me.
