Splitter Material..

Does anyone have a good lead on a good composite for a Splitter? Local is a must.. shipping is not good for this size material.
It has to be 1/4 to 3/8 thick as it doubles as a load bearing support for the complete front clip.
Carbon Fiber could work but the raw measurements need to be 48" x 86".. and I have found CF isn't too $$$ as I originally thought.
Also, just plain sheet plastic will suffice. as long as its 1/4 thick.

I used to buy all sorts of stuff from Piedmont Plastics in Knoxville. I haven't needed anything in a long time but I'm pretty sure they're still around. They were easy to deal with in the past.

I've gotten stuff from Piedmont too. Advanced Plastics on Sherlake might have something also.

If you want it bullet proof, see if you can find a panel of Dyneema. Rally folks were looking at making skid and bash plates out of that stuff.

thats funny.. cause it doubles as a skid plate under the front cross member. Where is that stuff at Ted? And is that the real name of it?

I've used Alumalite for years. 4x8 sheet from Advanced Plastics was about 130 last time I bought some.

That is the name of the stuff but I'm not seeing sheets of it listed now. They might have pulled it off market In a form you can use because it could be made into bullet proof armor. Sorry, back to your regular ole carbon, aluminum and UHDPE

Get Alumilite from Total Plastics in Alcoa behind West Chevrolet. Pretty easy folks to get along with. That's where Jim and I got ours from a couple years ago. I don't remember the price.

Im worried about aluminite or any other corrugated material due to having bolt thru attachments.. Its gonna crush. NOt to mention the skid plate qualities may be less than a solid material

I'm sure the skidplate qualities would be unacceptable. However, I've riveted the splitter support brackets to the alumilite and bolted the struts to it with no problems
