Video shoot at Bristol

Post by jcox07 »

Got this email from Trey

Jeff,

We are going to be having some pretty famous Youtubers come to our venue and film some stunts and thrills for their Youtube channel.

They want to do some burnouts, and other filming of driving activities. The video will get millions of views.

We are in need of:
• 5 Visually Appealing Autocross Cars
• Preferably Automatic
• We would help with the expense of tires and other expenses.

Do you think that would be possible to round up?

If you want to give me a call, I can wrap Brandon in to make sure we are all on the same page.

The filming would take place Wednesday & Thursday, June 16-17, 2021.

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Trey
Anyone interested as I will get more info if there are anyone that wants in on this.....

We've got some trash tires for the BMW, and it's "automatic". Would be interested to know who it is though before committing yes/no.

If I am reading between the lines, they want to drive our cars to do some drifting and burnouts?

The Excursion is the only thing I own that is an automatic...

Nope, no, nada to anyone else driving my car for "burnouts and other filming of driving activities". I can only imagine what the other driving activities would be.

If someone here is interested in this, be sure and check the tire availability of your tire of choice first.

Sounds like a bunch of YouTube "influencers" who can't even drive a stick want to thrash someone else's cars, essentially for free. I mean, I guess if you can talk some idiots into that, then why not?

There are people in Hollywood that make a lot of money renting out nice cars for this exact purpose. But, they make a lot of money doing that. ;)

They are welcome to borrow the civic, I can even give it a wash and wax to make it more visually appealing.

While having my car in a video that gets millions of views is appealing. I'm not yet convinced it's worth the risk.

The expense of tires isn't what worries me.....Its the other stuff they might break and just hand it back when they are done

And while you don't need the clutch to shift.....it's not an automatic.

This is the kind of exposure I think the SCCA needs...and I would be willing to consider it, but I would want to know the who, what and have some kind of assurance they aren't going to hang the rods out the side of it.

1) I don't own anything visually appealing
2) Suburban tow pig is only automatic I own
3) would tires and other expenses include the purchase of a new car? Depending on the level of youtube content provider, they make more a year than I do. By A LOT.

Well Cindy's '90 could use new street tires. I could trailer it out there and let them finish grenading the rear end ... might be able to milk this for more than a C4 is worth.
