My tale of woe is pretty hard for me to talk about: I took my C5Z to a local speed shop for a cam and valve springs. They did it and killed the motor on the dyno. Dropped a valve and cracked both block and head. That was three+ weeks ago and I still don't have a car and the shop needs help finding a replacement motor. If anyone has any lines on the above motors, please let me know. If you have ideas about additional motors that'll do the job, please let me know. I'm not looking for a monster drag car - I want a CAM-S car that will also hit the road tracks (VIR, Road Atlanta, Atlanta Motorsports Park, CMP, Barber, etc.). 400-500 HP and readily available for the transplant into the car ASAP are the main requirements.

Thanks.

If you go the 6.2 route let me know - I still have my notes shoving one into a 4th gen and its a little more complicated than just dropping a new crate LS6 in. You also need to to work on some oiling upgrades for what you want to do.

I'd check LS1 tech out - I scored my "fell off a train" motor pretty cheap from there.

When I was afraid my engine was on its way out, I talked to Corey about what they had readily available. He said they were looking at building a spec 5.3L that should make a little more than 400hp. The price guess seemed reasonable to me. I would reach out to him on it.

That low-mile LS6 I showed you might still be available. :-)

We have the new 5.3s on the shelf, but still in the GM crates. Right now we are selling them as a kit. We take them apart, pull out the DoD stuff and the odd truck oil pan, then do all of the prep work and include everything needed to bolt together the long block. We have one in process right now, just waiting on our CNC guy to finish up a project so he can do a run of LS heads. Should be within the next week or two, so we could possibly get another one apart and prepped at the same time. I'll have to double check our parts stock. We can assemble if needed, but I don't know when we would be able to. He says these things should be around 500hp with the ported heads.

Are the 5.3 blocks still iron or did GM finally start making them out of aluminum? Not in the market, just curious.

These are aluminum LH6 engines.
