Glad I found you folks.

My name is Boyd and I have never done any autox at all. I have a Factory 5 Roadster that I built and I'm interested in getting some seat time in an environment that won't get me any tickets. I'm really looking to get some experience with this machine to see just what it, and I, can do, and learn how it reacts in certain conditions (I'm sure you understand).

That said, I've read and printed everything i can find on your website for the Novice. I'm thinking I'd like to join y'all on Aug 8. I guess my biggest fear is getting lost in the cones. 😁

I guess I need to ask about car class. It's a Cobra replica, sort of. Nitto NT05's.

I know I'm not going to be that fast, I just wanna have some fun with my car and learn how to really drive it.

Thanks.

Welcome!! The Cobra is a blast to autocross but it takes some time to learn the car and get it set up to handle well. We have a few people that come out with them. Our novice chief (Jim Simmons) probably has the most developed one that runs with us. Josh Smathers also has one that is quick. He and I typically go back and forth for wins in class.

With the tires that you have on it, your best class would probably be CAM-S. It's basically a run-what-you-brung type of class with few rules, other than tires.

Thanks Bradley.

So I will be NCAM-S and a number. How do I know what number to setup ahead of time? Does it get assigned at registration? No, I haven't registered yet.

You get to chose one during registration. It'll tell you if it's available or not.

Ok, I'm registered. Looking forward to this, however slow and lost I might be... 😆

Boyd,

Don't stress it. Everyone is new at one time and everyone's there to help and make sure you have fun. Key is just that... have fun! Ask questions and bring stuff to stay hydrated, fed and no sunburn.

Hi Boyd;
Welcome, if you can try to get to the event early, about 7:30, and then come find me. Everyone knows me, I drive a red cobra with a wing. I'm also the novice helper. So, I'll walk you through the process of checking in, tech, walking the course, and answering any questions.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Had a blast putting my street Factory 5 Cobra thru it's paces! I have a lot to learn and I know my car has a lot more in it. Thanks for making a newbie feel welcome and I will be back!

Where you in the silver Cobra? If so, I was working on your first run and I recall your sounds/yells of fun after your first run. Good times :).

Yeah, that was me! And that was the first time I pushed that car that hard. Improved something like 7 seconds over my 6 runs, so I was doing something right. Yes... Good times indeed!
