Car Setup Help

Post by Buck05Sti »

I've got coilovers and a set of bars picked, but i'm looking for some guidance as to what else would be good to purchase? Bushings as well?

Because the damn things sell so fast! I was looking at three recently, all sold within two days of each other. That's why im pulling the trigger on a suspension for the shitbox. I'd say its about time with my almost 190Kmiles

So, back to this. Any suggestions on where else to start? I assume replacing all the bushings would be a logical next step?

I would say that they are overdue to be replaced, check on stranoparts.com and see if Sam has what you are looking for, even if you don't see it on his website he can order what you need and he has a good knowledge of all cars and what makes them perform better....

You probably want adjustable end links for those bars, some kind of camber adjustment (camber plates and maybe camber bolts up front, maybe adjustable control arms for the rear), and probably fresh motor mounts and bushings. For my car, which is totally different, but shares a lot of parts, I didn't go crazy with bushings. I just did subframe inserts and the transmission insert. At those miles, you probably want the big bushing on the front control arms, too.

I actually upgraded the motormounts a while ago when they failed. So i've got the pitch stop, motor mounts and front trans mount. I got alittle more vibration and, oddly, i feel like the exhaust sounded different after. The coilovers i'm getting have camber plates up front, so i think i'd be good there. Not sure on the endlinks that come with my kit, but i got the whiteline 24mm F/R bar kit. https://whitelineperformance.com/produc ... ehicle-kit

How many miles on the car? And what's the year? If it's only 10 years old and 50k miles, I wouldn't bother with bushings. But if it's 15+ years old with 100k, yeah. And look for Delrin, not poly.
