Is the club rule still if you win Novice class three times, you move to open? And if so, how would that affect a novice's shot at a championship?

Technically, yes but I don't think it is being enforced. There is no novice championship so the quicker a competitor moves up, the quicker they are eligible for a championship.

We've never really formally tracked this. I also think that people generally tend to see that they have a decent chance to win an open trophy or championship and move up on their own.

Ladies usually runs opposite of open right? She doesnt really care where she runs, as long as we run together.

I don't think there is any specific rule on that.
