decent tire dealer?

Post by GaryM »

Needing a new tire...had a blowout on the interstate last night...and realized my lugnut key was in my toolbox...which was stolen a few weeks ago. So that was a fun few hours trying to locate a lug key on a sunday night.

Who's got some decent prices on a 205-40-17?

These on here were practically new...so I'm not too worried about mixing new and old, just worried about the other ones doing what that one did.

I guess not all tires are rated for Kia speed.

More seriously though, Tirerack has recently had some good closeout deals on 17" tires.

I really like Tire Barn on Kingston pike at Walker Springs. Nice bunch of guys, great customer service.

+1 on Tire Barn. I got a set of BFGs there with their equivalent of Road Hazard for a couple dollars more than Tire Rack would've been, not counting the mount/balance. Seems like a good group of people.

Matlock near Kingston Pike and Lovell Rd. intersection. I have never bought tires there but they have aligned the car several times. Nice bunch of guys there. If you go tell them you know a group of guys that drive Subaru's that go to them for alignments.

I know that Sears and a few others will match TireRack prices. That can save you several dollars sometimes.

x2 for Matlock.

Firestone in Farragut seems to do well also. Don't go to the one at Walker Springs. Moe-rons.

Firestone at Walker Springs seems to do well with oil changes. They *thought* I had a loose tierod, though.

Yeah, after explaining to them about how to balance a tire without weights on the outside, they still did it wrong.

Tire barn guys took good care of me this morning. They even put the race tires on the mini wheels- an impressive feat.
