Good places to get clutch changed?

Post by r3vo »

The clutch in my 02 Acura RSX is going out, and I need it replaced. Called a place on Clinton Hwy, and they said they have to go for a ride with me before they can give me a price. I'm going to buy a clutch from the internet, but need someone to install it for me. Any suggestions?

That (needing to go for a ride before pricing) is the dumbest thing I've heard this week so far. The labor to replace it will be the same regardless of how far gone it is.

I'd shop that around a bit. There are plenty of Honda specialist places around aside from dealers, or you might holler at EAG or another comparable performance shop locally. The best Honda/Acura tech I know is in Asheland City, TN (outside Nashville), but that may be a little bit of a drive (if you don't mind taking a weekend though, I'll give you his info). :)

If you want Honda-specific, try Dennis Hall.

It doesn't have to be honda specific, I just want my clutch fixed.

I imagine you'd also want it done correctly  Hence the brand-specific recommendation.

Dennis Hall has a good rep and their prices seem to be relatively fair. I've sent several co-workers there and no complaints (to me, at least).

I'll also recommend Dennis Hall. I used him for work when I lived up that way.

X3 on Dennis Hall. He is absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever met. They also work on all makes and models now, not just Honda. It's Dennis Halls Auto Service, 221 Sherway Dr. 690-1151. They are currently fixing my Lightning.

Dennis is a good guy and I am saying that not just because I am doing some non-work related legal work right now. He used to race motorcycles with Stan Hinds if you can think that far back.
