The alignment head still sits on the face of the wheel, the tire clamp is just the method of attachment. Instead of metal-to-metal with a clamp on the wheel lip, which risks marring the wheel, this hooks the tire tread (whatever of that exists).

This does not bring the tire into the calculations.

Ok sounds better when explained that way.

I went to Corey last week at Fisher Tire on Broadway and was very pleased with the experience, great hometown shop still trying to help the customer not swindle them. Corey aligned my Honda element which is lifted 2" and way outside of its "normal" suspension geometry. He showed me how bad my previous alignment was and allowed me to pick my specs and came to talk to me whenever he had a question. Pricing was fair and they knocked a little off since I told them I'd be bringing all 3 of my cars there.

(+) for Fisher Tire

Thanks, though it looks like I may not need it. I'll remember them for future use, though. :)

I get my alignments and tires mounted / balanced at European Auto Garage. They have high tech Hunter equipment and their prices are fair. The owner tracks / races so he knows a think or two about car setup. :)

They also host a Cars & Coffee 6 times a year.

I had to get race tires mounted there in a pinch a few years ago. It was about $50 more than what I consider too much to pay to get tires mounted.

Yeah that's high.

That's double the price over at Don's on Western Ave.

I think I was charged $115 or so. It hurt, but I was in a pinch.

Joe Henslee has mounted the last several sets for me. Very reasonable price and he takes his time to do them right.

Also, Jon Coatney (TennFab) built a tire bracket for my tire trailer and did some work on our van at work. Very nice workmanship and also very reasonable on price.

I like supporting fellow racers, too. :D

Another big +++ for Jon Coatney for fab work/welding. He's helped me out a ton with my trailer and race car

Also, not sure if this fits here or not... but I've got a tire machine that I allow people who re-stock my beer fridge to use.

Times two for Joe. He does good work, balances precisely and does not damage wheels.

And another A+ for Coatney.
