Solo 1 question

Post by tnturbo »

What is involved in doing Solo 1 events? Is a cage required?

I'm sure someone will correctme if I am wrong, but I think you need a legal cage, suit, kill switch, just about everything else you need for road racing.

I think all you need for a hardtop car is a roll bar. I believe you would still need the fire equipment, though. I don't have my rulebook handy but I know the information is in there.

1. SCCA legal rollbar
2. Fire extinguisher with a metal mount
3. Arm restraints for convertibles
4. Two layer suit
5. Fire retardant gloves and footwear
6. Fire retardant baclava if you have a facial hair
7. Snell helmet
8. 1 school (you can get around that if you have some high speed driving
driving experience. ie NASA HPDE, drag racing, etc.)
9. an SCCA solo1 license

That's the basics. On each item you should check a current rulebook. The rules also say that any car that is legal for Solo2 compitition and meets the Solo1 safety regulations can be entered for Solo1 events.

Hope that helps.

If you wore a blaclava baclava you would have chocolate wiskers and that would be tasty.
