Rallycross...

Post by 04Baja »

Hello all. I moved up here from Florida 6 months ago and unfortunately have not been able to make it to a solo event yet. That is now changing and I should be attending them from now on and I look forward to meeting you all. BUT I am on a mission to re-start our rallycross program. If anyone is interested in true power sliding fun lets get this off the ground. I have raced in these events in Florida and seen lowered vehicles do it as we'll as trucks. It's usually a run what u brung kind of thing just like solo. There's very little chance that you will damage your vehicle but you will leave with a smile on your face. I've got a lead on a field for rent at the redneck resort but if anyone has any suggestions lets hear it. Thank you all for your time, Richard

We had a rallycross program years ago and I was fortunate enough to get to run in the last event. At the risk of committing forum blasphemy, I'll say that it was arguably more fun than autocross. I'd be up for it again if we could get a site. I think the nearest event now is in Huntsville.

I used to LOVE RallyCross! Our (Chattanooga's) program fell apart too, sadly. I miss it! I'd be in for some events if y'all get it going again!

I'll bump another fairly recent rallycross thread if I can find it. We can do this, but we will need membership volunteers to run the program.

I think most of us would do it if we had access to a car (and regardless of what people say, they seem to break doing this stuff)...

Yeah it can be hard on equipment. Suspension takes a pretty good beating.

I'm all for getting into some rallycross if we get this going. I have a buddy's car that would be perfect to beat on and Hertz is always a good option. The redneck resort thing is a great idea and we could really get a lot of rednecks, I mean participants and spectators there. Anyone reach out to Smokey Mtn Speedway or the other dirt tracks around?

I will get us a location and i will spend my own money to make flyers and send out posts to get people to come. What i need is an scca volunteer that has the timers to keep proper track of our times. If I have to I will buy the cones and epuipment myself. If anysone has a timing kit for sale let me know.

I'd suggest you come to the ETR monthly meeting at Calhouns tonight. I'm sure the club would be willing to help with cones/timing equipment, and the information needed to have a sanctioned and insured event.

what Gary said. The biggest thing we need is the feild to do it in, and the cars to abuse in the field.

ETR board meetings are 1st tuesday of the month at 6pm to eat with actual meeting starting around 7pm. lately the meetings are at Calhouns in Turkey Creek google maps link
